Ad Hoc
6476 Washington Street
Yountville, CA 94599
(707) 944-2487
The building at 6476 Washington Street was originally intended to be a very different type of restaurant. While they were designing it they thought to experiment by opening a temporary restaurant and calling it Ad Hoc, which literally means, "for this purpose." The idea for Ad Hoc was simple - 5 days a week offer a 4 course family style menu that changed each day, accompanied by a small, accessible wine list in a casual setting reminiscent of home. It created a place to dine for the local community. The decision to change over the restaurant, however, was taken out of their hands by the guests. The response was so positive, they simply couldn't close. So, in September, 2007, Ad Hoc was opened permanently and now serves dinner 7 nights a week.

Chef Richard Reddington may have put his name on the culinary map at nearby resort Auberge du Soleil, but he secured a spot among the valley's very best chefs when he opened his own restaurant at the end of 2005. The modern and striking dining room is a real change of pace while the menu is definitely full flavored. Expect exceptional appetizers such as a delicate sashimi hamachi with edamame, cucumber, ginger, and sticky rice; and a cold foie gras trio with pistachios and brioche. For entrees, the Atlantic cod with chorizo, clams, and curry sauce is a dream dish that simultaneously manages to be rich and light. The new pastry chef promises to sweeten the offerings with the likes of a citrus trio of Meyer lemon cake, tangerine float, and grapefruit s'mores. If your budget allows, definitely let the sommelier wine-pair the meal for you. He's bound to turn you on to some new favorites. Also, if you're looking for a lush brunch spot, this is it!.
