An award winning largely Napa Valley wine list completes the experience As the menu points out (it has an entire page devoted to its purveyors) the restaurant is focused on sourcing the best quality seasonal ingredients. Located adjacent to the Dean & DeLuca store in St. Helena, they don't have to go far to get a fantastic selection of cheese, among other things. It is no coincidence that Dean & DeLuca and Press are both co-owned by Leslie Rudd, Napa Valley entrepreneur and winery owner. The restaurant is loosely based on the idea of a famous Parisian Rotisserie. The chef Keith Luce has a stellar resume and has put together an interesting and ever changing menu.

Pat Kuleto has done it again. His signature style of down-to-the-detail decorating (think Farallon and Jardinière) has worked its sophisticated magic on a Craftsman-style bungalow in St. Helena. Now, the handsome restaurant radiates warmth, not just from the three fireplaces, but from light fixtures reminiscent of acorns and earthy fabrics that evoke feelings of a hunting lodge from the early days of California. Todd Humphries, formally of Campton Place, has also used the history of the region to inspire his menu. His Napa Cuisine comprises seasonal dishes from ingredients that are locally sourced and produced. For eager diners that translates into sparking Dungeness crab salad, seared Sonoma foie gras, grilled radicchio with tangy goat cheese or fresh pasta with wild mushrooms. Any of the 800 selections on the international wine list would be a pleasure. Save room for a dessert or the standout cheese plate paired up with a well-chosen dessert wine.
