2000 Veuve Clicquot, Reserve Rose
An intense nose exudes aromas of caramelised fruits (redcurrant jam, figs, citrus fruits, raisins) as well as a certain freshness brought about by fragrances such as liquorice. After several minutes
chocolaty and vanilla notes are revealed.
In the mouth, the wine evokes pink grapefruit and dried fruits (hazelnuts, almonds), finishing on notes of spices (ginger bread, cinnamon). A wine of great elegance, this wine presents a clean attack and a strong finish based on present yet delicately expressed tannins. An evident sensuality dominates in mid palate. Powerful and yet refined, this complex wine enchants with its heady notes.

2005 Patz & Hall, Hyde Vineyard. Chardonnay
Hyde Vineyard has justifiably become one of the superstar vineyards in Carneros. The Patz & Hall 2005 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay is perhaps the most sought after fruit in the pantheon of great California vineyards. The Hyde-Wente selection used for this wine is planted on the best soils at Hyde: sandy, clay loam, very low vigor and extremely well drained, lowering the yields even further than typical for this small berried clone. The Patz & Hall 2005 Hyde Vineyard Carneros Chardonnay is crisp, clean and powerful with lively and zesty aromas of ruby grapefruit, Kaffir lime and orange blossom. Elevated flavors of ripe pink lady apple, lemon drops, nectarine and white lily flower are followed by a creamy finish with great acidity and excellent balance of oak.
